Wiz Khalifa's Online Presence

With this blog post I want to talk about the Rap/Hip-hop artist Wiz Khalifa and what his online presence has done for him/what image he portrays with it. Wiz is on every social media outlet you can think of; Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, everything! Some say that he literally got famous because of the internet. He would post "DayTodays" on youtube, which were basically just like a day in the life series, a cameraman would follow him everywhere he went and portray that image with the lifestyle they are living. Wiz Khalifa is known to be a big marijuana smoker, partier, whatever you wanna call it, he doesnt really care what people say about what he likes to do. Hes a talented musician and songwriter, and hes taking the path that a lot of famous musicians in the past have taken. Hes really portraying the rockstar vibe although hes a rapper. He has a tattoo on his forehead that says "JIMI" in tribute to Jimi Hendrix. He often says that Jimi Hendrix is his favorite artist of all time and that he looks up to a lot of things he did. Wiz was posting those DayTodays, and getting on Twitter and blowing that up, and really just covering all surfaces of social media. He would get millions of views on his videos until he came out with his mixtape "Kush and Orange Juice" and then he blew up. He constantly posts pictures of him out at the club, expensive jewelery hes bought, or sometimes just stacks of money. Hes portraying that rockstar image that us Americans have seen for years. With his net worth over 20 million dollars now you can say that hes already a extremely successful rapper. I think that the image he portrays is ok for the people that can handle it. Im 22 years old and I can handle the fact that yeah he likes to smoke a lot of weed and party all the time without wanting to go and do the same thing everyday and try to mirror that lifestyle however a lot of kids look at that and want to do the same thing.
